Step 2 : Answer to the question "What are the names of the quarreling church members in Philippi?"
Euodia and Syntyche - Arguments are never fun, but having your dispute called out by your church leader can be downright awkward. In his letters to the churches, Paul often begins or ends by sending a greeting to the saints in Christ Jesus. Sometimes he gets more specific and addresses particular situations. And occasionally he mentions individuals by name. That is the case in the last chapter of the book of Philippians, where Paul lists two women, Euodia and Syntyche, fellow workers in the church and partners with Paul in the gospel. \n
\nPaul pleads with the women, by name, to agree in the Lord. They are only mentioned in this one place in the New Testament, so there’s not much to go on, but from the context we can assume that Paul has heard of their strife and is calling them to repent. Paul spends the beginning of Philippians 2 encouraging believers to be of the same mind, to have the same love, to be in full accord and of one mind. He counsels believers not to be rivals, but to have the humility of Christ and to be united in serving others. So while Paul’s message is applicable to all Christians, he had a special message of unity for these two women.:
