Grover Cleveland became the first and only U.S. President to be married at the White House on this day in 1886. His new wife was a beautiful young woman 27 years his junior named Frances Folsom. At age 21, Frances became the youngest first lady in U.S. history. When she was 11, Frances’ father died and Cleveland became her legal guardian, remaining close friends with her mother. Although Cleveland was not the first president to marry while in office, he is the only one who had the ceremony in the White House.
