What is Heat Exhaustion?
Heat Exhaustion - also known as the
failure of body's heat-regulating system due to the high
temperatures. This impact cause life-threatening condition to victim.
Very hot weather or excessive heat make the body unable to vigorous
activity. High temperatures may cause the body's major organs to
fail.
Heat Exhaustion may lead to most severe
heat-related problems. It is often caused by over exercise or hot
weather. The right amount of fluid intake will save you form Heat
Exhaustion.
Who suffer from Heat Exhaustion?
However anyone can get sunstroke some
of them have high probability to get suffer form heat stroke.
Children, athletes, diabetic patients, alcoholics have high chances
to get effected with Heat Exhaustion. Certain medications can also
make a person more prone to Heat Exhaustion.
What are the signs and symptoms of sunstroke?
The most dangerous symptom of Heat
Exhaustion is clearly rise in body temperature (greater than 104 °
F) which can be seen as well as personality changes like confusion
and state of unconsciousness.
Other signs and symptoms may include the following:
- Heart / pulse
- Fast / low intake of breath
- High or low blood pressure
- Sweating problems
- Irritability, confusion or coma
- Dizzy or light headedness.
- Feeling of Nausea (vomiting)

If Heat continues the following will result as severe symptoms :
- Psychological upset
- Breathing rapidly shifts (hyper ventilation)
- Body cramps
- Painful spasms in the arms and legs
- All of a sudden unconsciousness
First aid :
- Move the person away form the sun shine to shade or very cold (air conditioned) place.
- Increase the height of legs and feet from normal height.
- Loosen or remove the person's clothing.
- Serve him cool water or other non alcoholic beverages without caffeine.
- Wipe him with a wet sponge and a arrange a fan to cool the person.
- Observe the patient condition and immediately move him to the nearest hospital.
If the fever become more severe and
increased to greater than 102 F, and loss of consciousness, confusion
or seizures occur take emergency medical help right away.
How to prevent Heat Exhaustion?
- Stay indoor in hot summer days
- Drink lot of water whenever you are doing outdoor activities to keep the body temperature normal.
- Stay away from alcohol and caffeine.
- Wear light coloured and loose clothing.
- Drink water and take regular breaks in your daily work to keep the water level of the body.
