I am Losing Hair – Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention of Hair Loss


What is Hair Loss?

Hair Loss may be from less hair to bald. Hair loss is Clinically divided in the following way.

  1. General physical stress – eg: long term disease, surgical treatment will cause hair loss of two or three weeks. Infectious diseases will also cause loss of hair. A one-time hormonal imbalance, especially in women after delivery will cause hair fall
  1. This situations only cause temporary damage to hair. Go for medical advice in the case of severe loss.



Drug-induced Problems :


Some of the drugs used for some typical diseases will cause hair loss, even baldness.

Disease symptoms:


  1. Hypothyroidism (excessive growth or reduction in hormone) causes Hair Loss.
  2. Sex hormone imbalance.
  3. Severe nutritional deficiency
  4. Especially in the Proteins, iron, zinc, boiton vitamins deficiency, especially those of imbalance in menstruation women seemed to be more probable to have hair loss.
  5. Fungal infections which causes certain types of fungal spots, will lay down a few spots. It is normally observed in small children.
  6. Inherited (or) Hair Loss can be hereditary. It is observed in commonly in men. It may start at any part of your life time. Even form a very young age like 13 to 19 years "may be the beginning”.

  2. Increasing age
  3. Male hormones

Hair loss or baldness is observed in women also.

Symptoms :


Loss of 50 to 100 hairs every day is common in everyone. If the count increases more than this take medical advice if necessary. Although medical advice should be taken if you observe loss of hair or baldness in more than one place on your head.

Prevention:


  1. Mental stress reduction
  2. Hair care during combing.
  3. Altering drugs, which causes hair fall.
  4. Observing which thing caused hair fall.
  5. Keeping the hair clean.
  6. Preventing hair becoming dry.
  7. Avoid using Hats of others.
  8. Avoid using others comb.

These type of care must be taken. In some cases we can also prevent hereditary baldness.

  7. Viral fevers, typhoid.
  8. The thyroid, the use of oral contraceptive pills.
  9. After birth
  10. Retraction of the hair (hair pulling)
  11. Radiation (cancer cases).
  12. The dermatological diseases
  13. Ovary tumors, adrenal gland tumors.
