Volume Control settings in Linux Ubuntu and Fedora


What is Volume Control Settings in Linux?


This article is about Volume control settings in Linux. We know there are mainly two types of interfaces for volume output. One is Analog Speakers and other one is Ear Phones. In Linux Operating System these two are different. It will allow you to use only one device at a time. So it would be easy if we learn how to use both of them.


Step 1: Opening ‘Sound Peferences’:


We can Open Sound Preferences by: Volume Icon[Rignt Click] >> Sound Preferences


When you do this you can see the Sound Preferences window with Sound Effects, Hard ware, Input, Output and Applications.

Step 2: Speaker Output


After the step 1, just click on the ‘Output’ tab. Then choose a device for sound output as ‘Internal Audio Analog Sterio’. Then adjust the ‘Balance’ some what left or right as shown in the image. Then select the connector field as ‘Analog Headphones’ or ‘Analog Speaker’ according to your requirement.

Step 3: Check Out Remaining Options


Here you can find the remaining options regarding input and applications and Hardware. You can fix the each and every requirement accordingly. But Don’t forget to choose ‘Default’ option in the field Soft ware effects.
