Happy St. Andrew's Day for All

Flag

First of all a very happy St. Andrew's Day for all the people of Scotland from www.Try3Steps.cf. On this auspicious occasion we would like to give you the history of St. Andrew's Day. How it had started and evolved as modern St. Andrew's Day.

Present:

St. Andrew's Day is country Scotland's official national day. In 2006, the Scottish Parliament designated St Andrew's Day as an official bank holiday. It is also a national holiday in Romania.

History:

In the period of 1034–1093 Malcolm III (Who fought a succession of wars against the kingdom of England) Was the originator of the festival celebrations. It was thought that ritual slaughter of animals associated with Samhain was moved to this date, so as to assure enough animals were kept alive for winter. But it is only in more recent times that the 30 November has been given national holiday status.

Celebrations:

It is the festival of food, music and dance. In each and every aspect Scottish tradition and culture reflects. Schools are main attraction with ceilidhs, dance festivals, storytelling, reciting and writing poems, writing tall tales, cooking traditional Scottish meals, and bagpipe-playing and much more. And it is also the start for the winter season followed by many festivals as well.

Once again a very happy St. Andrew's Day.
